CCAT 03/21-03/25

CCAT has some great things going on this week. Be sure to check it out!

Wednesday, March 22
CCAT Cinema – The Power of Community
6:00 p.m.
A film screening and discussion on how urban gardening, subsidized bicycle programs, and investments in off-grid solar panels helped strengthen Cuba’s response to a loss in oil imports during the 1990s.

Thursday, March 24
DIY Zero-Waste Granola
6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Food packaging is one of the biggest sources of plastic waste. It isn’t easy – but there are ways to reduce waste in product packaging. A group discussion will focus on buying in bulk, using reusable bags, and preparing food at home as a means to reduce single-use containers and wrappers.

This is a hands-on workshop in which you will get to make protein granola bars. They are raw, and are a great healthy snack for students on-the-go. Free mason jars will be provided to attendees to encourage bulk shopping. (Limited supply.)

Friday, March 25
Community Garden Info Session
3:00 p.m.
Construction on HSU’s new Community Garden is taking place in April. We will break ground soon and will host this informational session to provide an update on what is next. Attend this hour information session to learn about the project’s location, volunteer opportunities, and to express what you would like to see to our program’s Community Garden staff.

Friday, March 25
Bike Maintenance Workshop
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Outside by the Tool Shed
Learn basic bike maintenance skills in how to adjust brakes and shifters. Are you having trouble transporting cargo on your bike commute to campus? Learn to mount a stable container onto your rear rack using a milk container, basket, or other readily-available container. Tools provided. Bring you own bike.

Friday, March 25
CCAT Potluck
6:30 p.m.
CCAT hosts a monthly potluck. Join us for an evening of food, drinks, music, and conversations. Bring a friend or make new ones over dinner.
