BEGINNING WITH HERBS

Herbs
This course is designed to provide a brief introduction to herbalism and various ways of healing with medicinal plants.

By the end of the session, students will have had the opportunity to taste, see, smell and learn about some of the most commonly used herbs and how to incorporate them into daily life for overall health and well-being. Each class will include hands on herbal medicine making so students can learn various methods, tips and techniques to make herbal preparations with samples to go home.

GREEN BUILDING

Cob Creation         Natural Building Class
This course is intended to create a foundation that enables the student to successfully exercise and potentially adopt natural patterns of lifestyle that are not commonly practiced in modern society and discover new alternatives to sustainable residential design.

Each student will build with at least three natural materials (cob, slip-wool and papercrete), gain a working knowledge of what constitutes Net Zero Energy housing and explore how to build it.

FOUNDATIONS FOR ORGANIC GARDENING

Learning about Compost!
This course is intended to create a foundation that enables each student to successfully plan, plant and harvest an organic garden of their own. Once the basic skills are acquired, growing our own food is one of the most empowering things we can do. It is simultaneously a way to save money, eat healthy, create community and live sustainably.

URBAN HOMESTEADING

Salve making
This course will explore various components of an urban homesteading system that can be implemented in any situation. It will provide a hands-on approach in which students will have the opportunity to hone, develop, and share skills that they already have or are interested in learning, as well as be exposed to new skills that will be shared by other students.
