Open Positions for Fall 2014:

Education CoordinatorThis job is essential to the various workshops and teaching opportunities hosted at CCAT. You will be responsible for organizing and preparing for workshops, as well as facilitating the promotion of various events. Organization and time management are essential. The education coordinator also helps out with the planning and execution of events and festivals put on at CCAT.

Engineering Technician: The Engineering Technician will be responsible for monitoring student and employee projects and activities to ensure functionality and safety. Some tasks involve doing research and calculations, and some will be more hands on project work. The projects vary from simple structural projects, to soil and slope stabilization projects, to long term planning, to educational, to maintenance of the house and grounds, and more.

GroundskeeperThe groundskeeper is in charge of keeping the CCAT grounds safe and accessible, as well as aesthetically appealing and neat. This includes keeping paths in good condition and some plant maintenance.

Maintenance: The CCAT Maintenance position ensures the smooth operation of CCAT’s Appropriate Tech systems and functions. You will work together with the Co-Directors, the Groundskeeper, and other Physical Site personnel to maintain a clean, working, professional and beautiful CCAT.

Newsletter Co-Editor:Working as a team with another Co-Editor, you are responsible for the creation and publication of CCAT’s newsletters.  Though you will write some stories yourself, stories can also come from other members of the community. Organizational Coordinator/IT: Responsibilities include keeping CCAT’s interior space presentable, and updating and maintaining the CCAT website. Should have experience in a variety of skills, and be willing to help out with additional tasks as needed. Experience with WordPress and/or Drupal preferred.

Outreach Coordinator: A primary component of CCAT’s mission is to educate the campus and surrounding community on the benefits of Appropriate Technology. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for reaching out to HSU classes, clubs, and organizations, along with community groups and non-profits, to connect them with CCAT and our work.  This is done primarily through hosting tours and workshops for these groups on the CCAT grounds, and going to community events for tabling and workshops. This often includes visiting local primary schools and interacting with their students. The Outreach Coordinator can be considered to serve as the face of CCAT, sharing enthusiasm about the work we do with others.

PublicistThe publicist is responsible for creating visual media that is used to promote events at CCAT, and then to disseminate them around campus, the community, and online. Creation of flyers, advertising for events, etc. Timeliness and communication with other co-workers is essential. *If applying for this position, please attach a sample of your work or a link to your portfolio. *

Record Keeper: As Record Keeper you document the happenings of CCAT throughout the semester in terms of both qualitative information (new projects, plants in the garden beds, events being hosted) and quantitative information (number of tours given, classes taught, volunteers reached). Your job is to organize the CCAT Records so they may be a useful reference in the present and future. You help us avoid doing things twice, and also promote efficiency and coordination.

Volunteer Coordinator: Responsible for welcoming new volunteers on Volunteer Friday, delegating tasks to be completed, making sure volunteer and CCAT goals are met. Also responsible for coordinating volunteers during large events such as Harvest Festival and May Day. The Volunteer Coordinator should be friendly, welcoming, good at providing direction, and should be available from 10am-4pm on Fridays.

Community Garden Coordinator*: To be clear, the Community Garden has NOT been built yet. The Community Garden Coordinator is in charge of making this happen by  working with administrators, Associated Students, the CCAT Co-directors, and other campus students and staff to submit the final stages of paperwork and coordinate groundbreaking and establishment.  The Coordinator will oversee the establishment of the garden on the HSU campus. Once established, they will be responsible for the continued oversight and upkeep of the garden, coordinating and recruiting volunteers and plot “ownership”, facilitate workshops and classes, be a liaison to AS, and work with CCAT gardeners, co-directors, and other CCAT employees and volunteers involved with the garden and these tasks. This position requires previous gardening/farming experience and community organizing, volunteer coordination, and publicity experience is preferred.
